happy new year everyone! it’s the year of the water dragon! kaya naman blue siya, hahaha! the chinese characters are the ones used in mandarin so that’s kong hsi huat tsai. sana maging masaya at masagana ang new year nating lahat… yung maraming pagkain, bonding, at adventures! hihihi. i hope you liked my art too at wag kalimutang kumain ng tikoy!

a quest with maki

maki and i have decided to have a food trip again. and we decided to go to so many places it seemed like a quest or maybe i’ve been reading too much rick riordan. hahaha! we decided to cancel banapple since lalamon naman kami sa banchetto… pero we dropped by pizza hut for lunch and i had…
chicken pesto penne and jumbo mozzarella sticks … which were good! i love pesto and fried coconut and cheese. pero matakaw lang talaga ako.
camera face … we goofed around. maki has several cameras… ako nalang yata walang slr ngayon. hehehe, need to practice more first! anyhoo, we watched sherlock homes which was a really good movie because if it weren’t good i would’ve felt down because banchetto had no more food when we arrived.
mango jelly shakes … ito nalang inabutan namin. i was expecting cakes and sweets and all. pero oks lang yun, it only means a bigger quest is coming soon!

find teh hidden kitteh

i don’t usually cook my meals and most mornings, on the way to get breakfast, i’d find stray cats under cars or vans in the streets. sometimes when i’m in senseless mode, i play find the hidden kitteh… hahaha! it’s like find the hidden mickey but i look for the cats instead. i think the most i found was ten in two blocks. i have weird quirks like this but cats do make me smile, here’s some of what i found…
this one seems to like puzzles.

my twin sister

my sister and i used to have matching clothes when we were young and guess what… we received matching abercrombie and fitch polo shirts for christmas. hahaha!
abercrombie and fitch … my dad loves this brand, i’ve seen the brand logo all over his luggage. i’m really happy with how nice and soft my polo is, and the colors remind me of flowing water… but there’s too much fake shirts here, most people would think these were fakes too… just like what they did to those toms shoes that are selling in the streets. the real toms look like these by the way. don’t get me wrong though, i’m not a big fan of branded stuff… save for hp and converse but i’m never a fan of fake stuff.
not really my twin … but from afar, we kind of look like one. it’s usually fun when people would ask who’s who and who is older. it’s cute too when some people do a double take and would ask if we we’re twins. this happened a lot more when we were kids.
can you guess which one’s melaikick? hahaha. highlight through if you can’t guess… the last pixxor is me.
eat out with family

before going back to the states, our dad decided to have an eat out with some of our cousins… yeah well, eat out isn’t really the correct word because they’re like huge, i mean tall, muscular, bulky… see pixxor below. hahaha.
sons … they could have been my dad’s sons, hahaha! that’s my dad and two of my male cousins, kuya pat… i like the kuya part, it makes me feel younger. lol. he’s a year older than me and paul, he used to be just a small kid when i was in college, now he’s taller than me!
daughters … that’s my sister, me, and dad again. we turned out to be small, thin, and slightly underweight… but if this wasn’t jay-js and it was say, a patisserie, i’d have devoured so much like my cousins. hahaha, i did say i like cakes.
at jay-j’s … this was before those two tables were completely filled with food. usually, when it’s dad treating us, we could order anything we liked… this does not even include his own food orders. the waiter was telling him that he’d ordered too much food. hahaha! first time i ever heard a waiter say that. this was a nice eat out with family… hadn’t had one in years. hopefully we could have some more soon. anyhoo, we ended up in a food coma afterwards.

i’ve decided to make a typography art for every month for this year so here’s the one for january! i thought it should be sparkly and glittery. gold seems to be a pretty color naman. i also feel that it’s a nice way to start the year with something bright… gonna have a bright month!

a happy new year

it’s been a long time since i’ve spent the new year with family… so when my dad invited me over i jumped at the chance. it wasn’t a big celebration just some kwentuhan and food and yeah, we camwhored a bit…
me and my dad … he likes wearing these branded clothing in striking colors. he doesn’t look big here but we’re all puny when he stands up. yes, he even thinks my camera is puny… compared to that giant slr of his, anyway. he’s still picky although a bit toned down now.
me and my sister … if my dad loves wild colors, my sister loves pink… she has pink everything, even her kid. hahaha!
my niece tricia … she likes to yawn and all and is quiet most of the time, like auntie melai. i was told i was the quiet one when i was a baby. but she takes after her mother, puro pink. my sister says that she smiles when she sees pink stuff.
dinner … we had a simple dinner of barbecue, spaghetti, kare kare, and beef caldereta. this is like a communal house for my dad’s side of the family so… we have mismatched plates. lol.
by the window … we didn’t have fireworks as my sister’s husband is a firefighter. hahaha! but my sister and i watched our neighbors’ by midnight.
more camwhoring … there were a lot of mirrors in the house, so there. this was in the room dad let me sleep in. i don’t know how it feels exactly… celebrating with family, kind of a mixture of happy and loopy. kasi naman imagine being in a big house with 110 volt sockets and no internet. hahaha! then after further musings, i slept.

goodbye kiss

twenty and eleven was a balanced year. i had my share of setbacks and challenges and happiness along the way. here are the highligts of my year…
i learned to survive… the start of the year had been hard on me, i faced a lot of challenges all by myself. it was depressing. ito yung point sa buhay na parang aping api ka na. hahaha! but seriously, i had no one to run to, no one to ask for help, the people surrounding me were fighting their own battles. i felt sad and down. then one day, i just got up and decided that i had to help myself and with God’s help too i made one good decision which generally made this year a good one.
some of my life savers this year … were eating out and eating a lot, lamon sa banchetto, mercato, gayuma ni maria, chocolate kiss ; went to events like the up fair, eiga sai, first birthdays, miss engineering pageant, even summer rock away, an event miming organized ; i got a persian cat that’s really really fat and has a big soft tummy, he looks too cute he’d make you smile ; i’ve also gotten a camera this year, i take better pixxors nao ; at siyempre i did as many typography and art as i can!
met some ozummm people … this year i actually left some people, it was part of that one decision i was talking about. i may be nothing to them but they were very special to me. nadz and pat were two of the coolest people i have ever met. and there were others but these two were the most important. at siyempre, meron ka rin namang makikilalang ibang tao. i met richard and zie this year, two friends at work who’re like my brothers… comic relief sila madalas.
and then there’s mommy virgie…the strongest woman i have ever met. she made me cry… once. it was because she wanted to help me improve and she’s helped me so much with so many things… from my work to my life choices. para ko na siyang nanay at mahal na mahal ko siya. i’m really grateful that i’ve met her. and then there’s him. i call him, him or sir, in this blog. which brings us to the next highlight…
i opened my heart again … all i can say is kinikilig pa din ako kapag nakikita ko siyang nakangiti. i’ve been listening to his music since but i haven’t lost my sense of self… although, i now have a penchant for pineapples. hahaha!
so all that in 2011, therefore here’s a sweet goodbye kiss to this great year.

a merry little christmas

my merry little christmas! i had a simple christmas this year… i wasn’t really planning on celebrating because for one, my bestfriends are too far… one’s stuck in davao, one’s in makati, and the other two are in bulacan. two, i’ve never really enjoyed christmas due to err, some family issues. hahaha!
pero ngayong pasko, a few things had come up. so here’s my merry little christmas…
christmas decor… this was a crazy idea. wala kasi akong christmas tree but i have a big three door cabinet! hahaha! it’s made of wood and you can hang stuff inside of it… just like a tree! i’ve cut up some paper decors for it.
christmas with you … this is my favorite christmas song now. listened to it a few months ago and loved it! kind of reminds me of a few happy times. i was blasting this till almost midnight.
phone calls … since everyone else was somewhere out there at dahil super special nila saken, text messages weren’t enough. i had to hear their voices at least… except for max, kasi buntis at super late na when i started calling everybody, and david, i kind of lost his number… he’s had some phone issues. hehehe! funny how i called the most important person first but he was taking a bath and i ended up calling him last… which was actually better!
chocolates … my dad came home. we’re sort of ok now… therefore, there’s chocolate in the fridge. i love reese’s!
gifts … here are some of the gifts i received… an abercrombie and fitch polo, my dad finally got the size right. level up na siya. hahaha! ; a jellybean top, it’s too pretty! ; black raspberry bath and body works lotions, it smells really great! ; japanese cherry blossom perfume, haven’t tried it yet ; and one bag of etude house products! huzzah! i thank God for all these blessings!
and a promise … one of the best things in life are memories and so this pixxor is the best gift i had for christmas! i don’t mean the vans, i really meant the pixxor. yes, those are his black vans! i’ve had this typography idea for months now and i promised him a good grade for this next year. please watch out for it.
so eun, i had a small but merry christmas… i’ve always been a big fan of the little things in life. sana nag-enjoy din kayo sa christmas nyo!
