taking on mt. maynuba in rizal was my first adventure this year… it was a minor climb according to some blogs but i came with very healthy people who took on mountains almost regularly… the last time i hiked was july of last year in antique and i had been stuffing my face with pork buns since then, lols. so i’d been clinging on to graize and the tour guide until we reached the summit.

P_20170122_064536

i survived though and well, the views up top were very nice.

some of my favorite people, they had planned the whole trip like pros that we’d joke around that we could start up a tour agency… we have little smiley pins just for the trip, man, smiley pins.

P_20170122_064528

on the other hand, i received a pair of merrell shoes before this trip, huzzah! it was very comfortable but got soaked when i slipped into a stream.

P_20170122_084310
P_20170122_083949_BF

we also dropped by some waterfalls but decided to forego the small ones in favor of the bigger ones where people could swim.

our little tour guides (the guides’ kids actually) helped us clean up in their homes as we got down from mount maynuba, they were very cute… i shouldn’t have given them my leftover candy, haha. so eun, we went home after some lamon fest… i had a lot of fun, wish we’d do something like this again soon.

super late post… because again, life… so i went the annual giant lantern festival in san fernando, pampanga last… err… last december (sorry na). went on a weekday and not on the main event day because all you’ll ever see on that day are selfie sticks and people’s heads. was able to get really close to the lanterns and here are my favorite pixxors…

particularly liked sto. nino’s lantern though, it looked like a giant flower wreath most of the time but

it had a majestic finale.

dolores keeps winning yearly but i will always have a penchant for telabastagan, hihi. this baranggay won when i attended my first festival… they’re still awesome. so eun, it was fun watching the lights, hoping to see the lanterns again next time.

late post is late. haven’t blogged in a while because… life, haha. and so, we went to the up lantern parade some, ahem, three months ago. it was as always, really fun but there were so many people that night it was somewhat difficult to get good photos.

the building lights and the floats were very nice though, they had this ‘film’ theme going on too. on a side note, there was one point when, in an attempt to catch up with the floats, we tried crossing the whole of the sunken garden… which was very unwise, haha, but… at least to me, it was a funny moment (hey, i was wearing a dress and skate shoes with the waffles sticking to the wet ground). we stopped trying to cross after a few meters.

we ended the night eating at the chocolate kiss cafe, i hadn’t eaten there in a long time, they still make all the old cakes (like dayap and devil’s food) and the acid orange tea. on a side note, if you’re going to have the bahay ng alumni as your meet-up place (which i did), better inform your unfamiliar friends that it is a building inside of up diliman… in my case everyone was asking “who” the alumni was… “bahay ng alumni? sinong alumni?”, nyahaha.

we were finally able to go to the nook cafe some weeks ago (they were having their airconditioning system fixed when we dropped by the first time) and i thought it was kind of magical… it was small but it had all sorts of harry potter themed stuff complete with a cupboard under the stairs that made everything seem cozy.

P_20161211_143204

the food was great too, i had the triple s pasta (spicy spanish sardines) and golden snitch ganache, which were utterly cute.

we played around the second floor after eating… that’s graize and her little ravenclaw friend up top and then there’s me… was actually sorted in gryffindor in pottermore, so was pretty happy i got to wear that house’s robes, huzzah!

P_20161211_160539

we lounged around the second floor for a bit, it was filled with harry potter merchandise including a sorting hat, books, wands, owls, and other props.

P_20161211_145303

but what i thought was the best thing there was the huge mural which looked like a cross between diagon alley and hogwarts… it was very well-drawn and i thought it was kind of pretty…

so eun, the nook cafe kind of made me want to read the books again… will definitely come back!

just wanted to document our brief food quest to lazy bastard, it was very near our workplace and well… we forced our lazy selves to wake up a wee bit earlier and drop by…

the place is kind of cool and somewhat cozy at the same time. they’ve got a lot of punny (yes, with a p) stuff going around the menu…

P_20161117_215750

and they have a great penchant for bacon too… which is of course, one of life’s greatest things…

P_20161117_221612
P_20161117_221720

we even had extra bacon added to our chicken sandwiches, which was very good by the way. so eun, will always grab some chow here!

so i did mention that graize had included a sort of outreach to children at jomalig island and that we’d prepare some slippers and school stuff beforehand on the boat and i was really looking forward to handing those out but…

i’d been expecting to get some rest after going around jomalig’s beaches, just that the kids had already gathered as soon as we got back and in a few minutes we were arranging slippers and school supplies!

P_20161112_150509(1)
P_20161112_150646(1)

we had the kids line up with the little ones up front…

P_20161112_151117(1)
P_20161112_151352(1)

everyone wanted to help including the elders that lived around the area. on a side note, the girls were wishing we’d bought more but we could only carry so much…

IMG_20161112_155111

we all took a group pixxor in front of the beach once we were done. it was a very memorable experience, when i genuinely felt happy. they say you get a kind of high when you help people, and it’s true, make other people happy and you’ll be happy too.

so graize was so kind to take me with her on one of her trips together with her friends sometime last november… and i was so lucky to be able to set out to jomalig island with pretty girls… on a side note, some pixxors shown here are theirs.

P_20161111_080758(1)

we took a van to real, quezon, did some groceries, and ate lomi… i never really finished an entire bowl of it before because i thought it tasted weird but it was kind of ok this time, i actually finished this.

P_20161111_063019(1)
P_20161111_064433(1)

our boat ride was already waiting at the port when we arrived, we were kind of early, and that meant dibs on sleeping space.

we also packed school supplies on the boat as graize had also planned a sort of outreach for jomalig kids… more on that on another post though.

P_20161111_092322(1)

the boat ride was my longest to date which was about 6 hours… i thought it wouldn’t end, that was about 6 hours of rain and crashing waves, and sun and crashing waves. it was worth it though because after we had drunk some drunky bears and beer, and rested, we had…

a whole day dose of vitamin sea. we went to around six beaches, and the scenery is just beautiful. for starters, it’s already nice to see the mermaid colors from the waters which are very clear btw, but there are also rock formations, interesting limestone deposits, warm golden sand, coconuts, seashells, palm trees, our favorite crustaceans, and yes, good friends. it was awesome.
