visited lachi’s on our last day in davao. the place reminded me of citrus fruits and mangoes, hahaha. the place was airy and comfortable, we also found good seats by the window.

i ordered some chocolate cake initially but they ran out so i had durian cheesecake instead. i’m not a huge fan of durian fruit but i loved the cheesecake version. nyles bought their famous sansrival, which was awesome, but i wasn’t able to document it… and i forgot what jb ordered, lols. on a side note, the bill came on a hand-painted tray, the art on it was pretty.

you can ogle their cakes in the refrigerators by the left side of the place. must have a cake fest here when i return to davao! so eun, had so much fun in davao, next year ulit and hoping i can see at least one of davao’s festivals, heehee.

i was more than excited to get to alleycat tea house… i’d been looking forward to going there for weeks before our trip… because i love cats and a cat themed cafe is something i’ve dreamed of so…

the entrance is already ozuuuuum. the owners (at least what i think were the owners) dropped by that day, and they look the same as the doodles on the wall outside.

their interiors are so cute, there are cat items everywhere… i specially liked the tip box, the maneki nekos on the counter, and the doodles by the sink.

but wait, there’s more! they have a lounge sort of area on the second floor, where you can grab a book and roll around happily. the rest room’s there too and it has the most adorable cat sign, haha!

we sat by one of the corners… bought a ham and cheese sandwich and peach tea! i wish i could have tried the other teas though…

but the best part of the place is that when you look up the ceiling you’d notice a cat running around in the clouds… makes you happy even if mr. sun is on vacation. will definitely come back!

the others had asked what kind of breakfast i wanted and i mentioned that i wanted rice. we got rice alright, lots of it, hahaha! we headed over to amadoks to have breakfast, it was a hole in the wall restaurant, the kind that has karaoke and jugs of beer, but one that also serves good food. we got one of their sets, with spring rolls, fried chicken, vegetables, and heaps of rice. di na daw kami kakain ng lunch at dinner. this is the heaviest breakfast i had ever eaten yet in my life, hahaha!

we headed to aldevinco afterwards to get souvenirs. found a pretty-patterned chest and pearls, they’re expensive though.

we dropped by jb’s gift shop again, heehee. it’s funny when you find stores and stuff that have the same name as you.

didn’t shop so much as the other two but if you’re looking for some native crafts and that kind of stuff and happen to be in davao, there’s lots in this place.

we took a ferry to samal island in sasa wharf. it cost around ten php only! got to see davao from a higher view, that boat was really big and high, also got to see buses and cars get out from it’s belly. that was a cheap and fun ride.

a ship that was docked nearby, not so impressive but it looked clean. it’s definitely faring better than our government’s rusty warship somewhere over at ayungin shoal. i had just read an article about it before going to davao. it will probably remain that way and we could only hope it doesn’t disintegrate…

anyhoo, we finally arrived at sunset beach in samal island. it was really humid that day and that we rented a small hut… i was instantly reminded of the hot summers i spent in a little hut at the back of our ancestral home in quezon province. i used to run around and pick up weeds in the heat and the ocean was just beyond the corner and it was glorious… then the memories end there, sunset beach was one of the dirtiest resorts i’ve ever been to.

i’m able to stomach dirt and was trained to eat what was served, walang reklamo and all, but this resort’s facilities are way dirtier than what i’ve seen in other ones before. sure, the little huts were ok and ours even had a cutesy patterned curtain but but but… the washrooms and pathways were filthy and miserable.

we brought good food though, care of honey, and there were cats which sort of made up for the unsightly facilities of the place. we talked for a bit and lolled at stuff, and then we slept. the others probably went out sometime but i decided to just sleep through…

next morning, i bought coke for some caffeine fix from this store. you’ll have to get past giant sea monsters… err, i mean lots of huts, people milling around, people who are too drunk, people having sex in tents, and uh, huge tree roots to get to this store.

we headed over to blue jaz resort afterwards, i almost fell off the tricycle going to this place, nyahahaha!

the place is way cleaner than sunset beach and it also helped that when we went there, it was a bit cloudy.

we lounged around under big wooden umbrellas and ate leftovers while bumming around. it was a pleasant and slow that day and jb was providing all our wifi needs so it was pretty good.

we took selfies too, the beach views weren’t spectacular but the water was clear and that’s good enough. i also had a great time pestering jb, hehehe.

nyles and i got henna tattoos, i got a flower one just above my non-existent right boob. this was destroyed the moment i put on my backpack, lols.

there was an ongoing school event at the resort and they had food being sold only to the students, i went ninja mode and bought some chicken skin and mango shake!

and then we all finally ran out of food, got bored, and went back to the city on a pirate themed boat.

we started eating right away after work, hahaha. aside from being zombies, we’re also eating machines. we headed to abreeza to buy some…

pastries from anniepie’s. they have the best cinnamon rolls! if you’re in need of something fragrant, sweet, and warm, this is the place to go.

we also dropped by ranchero, also in abreeza. the place looks like a setting for a western cowboy movie. i like the cow figurine, reminds me of the long rides to quezon province where we’d count all the cows and carabaos, heehee. totally irrelevant but hey…

nyles got crispy fried liempo but i was still full so i just got some chilled mango with sago although this one also has some jackfruit, too sweet though. on the other hand, honey was still stuffing herself with anniepie brownies and jb is still a stingy miser, hahaha!

the office bunnies decided to go back to davao and since there were still some places i’d like to see there, i’d decided to tag along too. it was my first time on an evening flight and had to leave home in the afternoon so i had zero sleep. when we landed, we immediately went to our hotel, but for some reason they said we didn’t have any reservations. so we searched for another one and found…

el bajada hotel in downtown davao. they had an eb sign at the lobby, and my no sleep zombie self was like eggs benedict, eddie bauer, eclair butter… hihi. it’s cozy and clean and their staff are helpful.

the lobby and the dining area were combined on the ground floor, it wasn’t cramped though and the staff rushes over to take your order, heehee.

the zombie bunbuns like the bed! the hotel had a really large bed and one single one and we could dive and get lost in the beds. the room that we got was spacious too. best of all, the wifi’s pretty strong, i could browse through photo heavy websites easily.

i ate a lot at el bajada hotel din, had danggit on our first breakfast there, that was free of course. bought adobo for lunch, which was slightly more sour than what i’m used to but still good and was cheaper than the takeout food from fast food restaurants outside… and then some tocino and egg for our second breakfast. nom nom nom. notice that they have different tables, haha.

so eun, it’s a really nice place to stay if you’re on a budget and not too picky on table settings, lols.
