went to the sm north a few weeks back to look at some tokidoki art. i’ve first seen them in lesportsac bag ads and i thought they were cute. here are some of the characters on display…

i don’t have a need to memorize all of their names but i found brooklyn, the new yorker gorilla to be really cool and of course the cactus kitties are adorbs.

they showcased several items that had tokidoki design, the onitsuka tiger sneakers were the best imo.

i bought some cactus kitties in blind boxes. blind boxes are like what forrest gump says, a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get, lol. i got bandito and snoop kitty when i opened my boxes. lucky!

and finally, i ogled all the large installations, it’s like being in an art gallery only everything’s kawaii and there are no entrance fees, haha. the one with the asian ladies is my favorite! i believe sm is still running tokidoki in the city until sometime in june… i hope they do more of this kind of stuff particularly japanese themed ones.

maki knows i wanted to set up a cafe someday, yes, teh bestfriend knows everything from my taste in clothing to my dreams! so when she showed me an online discount on a baking class, i jumped at the chance. also, things like these make her a little more optimistic, like the way she’d find me maps and tell me i won’t get lost or tell me it’s a piece of cake, err cupcake in this case, haha.

i arrived on time at world citi colleges and headed to their culinary department, i knew the way because i checked the place a week before, lol.

world citi colleges’ kitchen probably isn’t as fancy as other schools’ but it was clean and and cozy. they had cute small electric ovens, might get one of those, intimidating medium sized steel gas ones, and a giant one at the back!

when all participants arrived, the chef brought out the baking supplies and gave us a rundown on beginner baking. i’m amazed at the bowls and measuring cups, and the cupcake liners were too cute. they’re like stationery and they’d make you feel kind of girly.

creaming and sifting were my favorite steps when we started because the electric mixer does everything for you and everything turns into cream like magic while sifting reminded me of err… noodles.

we started off with chocolate chip cookies, i made the batch up top, and then brownies, which were fairly easy, and then we helped each other out with the cupcakes. then we baked them!

IMG_2232

cookies bake a little bit faster than the others, it was done after around fifteen minutes. these are chocolate chip and they turned out nicely and sweet.

the brownies were done after around twenty five minutes, then we melted some chocolate chips and drizzled that on top and added some marshmallows. the brownies were super fluffy and moist, was so good.

finally the vanilla cupcakes were done. these took a bit longer to bake, around thirty five minutes. they smelled so wonderful when they got out of the oven, they were kind of sweeter than i preferred but still fluffy!

never really thought i’d go back to school since i have no plans in getting an m. a. but might consider a few more baking classes since i really had a blast with this one, heehee. will bake again soon!

they sold so many vintage looking stuff like old cassette tape keychains, hashtag stickers, vinyl records, stamps, pictures of actors, coins, and toys! i remember buying one of those bubble type things which you blow into, and i definitely had pick up sticks and jars of marbles and dinosaurs when i was a kid.

i bought some stationery and feather pins. i also got a free pin!

IMG_2150

and washi tape! art supplies are usually cheaper in bazaars and markets like these than in malls.

they also sold accessories, was eyeing some of the cake rings, but i have so many already.

other stuff you can find are pop up wallets; tableware… i bought a hand painted bowl with chinese patterns; crocheted decors; funny animal magnets… i got a tiger one; awesome books… i bought the tao of pooh; and bottlecap stuff, they’re cute.

they had so many witty tote bags too. the not made in china and atom araullo pregnancy club ones made me laugh.

most importantly, they had some typography and other prints. it’s like ogling art stuff in a gallery, only it’s for free. specially liked the carpe diem, and filipino inspired ones.

was really happy i was able to catch this market, never thought i’d find so many treasures in manila. even saw carlos celdran in a bunny headband, was too shy to say hi though, hihi. but will definitely come back!

went to up some days back to check out the sunflowers because they might not be around anymore next summer. didn’t get lost this time though, lol. just followed some joggers and found the sunflower lanes.

IMG_2125

spotted this pretty bud. sunflowers follow the golden ratio that’s why even the buds look nice. the flower heads are even better…

IMG_2127

some were hiding behind the leaves…

IMG_2136

some were still sleepy,

IMG_2134

others have just had coffee
