Archive for February 2012

it has been years since i started going to the up fair. ito na naman yung isa sa mga part ng taon na magpapanggap akong taga up. hahaha! normally, non-up peeps would need to fall in line at main gates… twice. hahaha, kasi one is for buying tickets and the other line is to the entrance to the fair itself.

it would have been ok but the lines are extremely long, you’d lose your sanity in the middle of it. it’s a good thing that maki is an alumna and we always are able to get in to the fair easily. nyahaha! mabuhay ang mga engineers!

the mudness …  dahil maulan ng mga nakaraang araw, super putik ng sunken garden. it felt like walking on brown play doh. there were casualties, you know… hundreds of shoes… mostly white chucks and keds. hehehe. we walked slipped and slid around the booths though and we found…

fair treasures … well these are little gems to me… i bought this year’s ring, the thing costs like php300 at forever21 but the seller sold it to me for only php50. huzzah! then maki and i bought shirts from mightee everyday. they sell statement shirts that have sayings in excellent type art. finally, i found a lost bear.

himigsikan … we went to the fair on its last day and the theme was himigsikan. there were established bands such as parokya ni edgar, moonstar 88, updharmadown, and kamikazee… the ones i remember. there were two songs though that i literally stopped and listened to, senti and kundiman, my all time favorites. and here’s a shoutout to my friend jang, who went to himigsikan too and who texted me saying that she remembered me when they played kundiman.

mixed up … it was a sign near the rides and fun booths. maki and i don’t usually go near there but since we were with the rest of the engineering kids we did go there. the nice thing about it is there were a lot of cute boys. hahaha! we were eyeing the one above. the pixxor doesn’t do him justice though.

several math whizzes … these are some of the engineers we bumped into who know me already or whom i’ve met several times and whom maki does not need to explain why were friends and all. hahaha. from left ay si manny, lani, aileen, and maki. lani is the only person i know who does mental math like a calculator.

lots of math whizzes … these are the rest of the engineering kids who call me and maki…  ate! love them all, mostly when they’re calling me ate. parang ang cute ee. they were toddlers when i was in high school. lol.

a sweet ending … we chanced upon some cakes and we bought a slice each by the end of himigsikan, a nice way to end a long, muddy, musical, fun fun fun day. salamat sa pagsama lagi sa akin, maki… next year ulit!

after namin magdinner we trudged through ortigas para hanapin ang subspace coffee house. it’s a good thing david worked in ortigas before so we didn’t get lost. now everyone’s been to starbucks and coffee bean and tea leaf… but subspace coffee house is different… it is ozummm!

unlike in other coffeehouses where they have uniform coffee tables and a more formal design, subspace is mix and match with a korean feel to it, which of course makes it so cute and comfy…

impressive interiors … kahit saan ka tumingin it is either made up of pretty vintage things or cool modern stuff or a combination of both. my absolute favorite is the ceiling installation… teh ozummmnesss.

the food is equally amazing too and actually costs less than that of most coffee nooks. they have a great selection of cakes and korean drinks, here o…

i ordered cheesecake and purple potato latte and mario maurer. hahaha! they have tons of magazines too and we flipped through them while eating. the cheesecake was heaven and it has white chocolate on top pa! on the other hand i normally don’t drink lattes but the barista said that this was their bestseller so i had to try it. best purple liquid thing i ever drank!

this is david’s banoffee and chocolate mint drink with dingdong dantes on the side. hihihi. i like the fact that they don’t have straws on fridays. it’s some kind of policy in the area which they follow and i just think it’s good, less plastic around.

and here’s patrick’s cinnamon pastry and two fornicating people. hahaha!

then there are other things that would make you want to stay there an entire day such as…

korean drinks… i got vita c, the one with yoona’s face of course. hehehe, love her.

a really really really cute barista … and he knows the lyrics of girls generation’s the boys too and did i mention he’s really cute?

being stupid and no one will care … this is an understatement. i have other pixxors i can use to blackmail these two. hahaha! i kind of find it hard being a bit rowdy at some coffee houses because most people are conducting business meetings or studying or the music is bossa nova. but at subspace, they’re blasting kpop and they don’t mind if you take photos and they don’t mind too if you’re having laugh fests!

and being able to lounge around comfortably … some coffee shops do have sofas but subspace has the best furniture ever. and with that, i therefore conclude that this is the best coffee shop i’ve ever been to so far and one of the best bonding sessions i’ve ever had with friends! we must come back soon, yes?

in life, you always have one of those friends na kahit san pa sila magpunta at kahit gaano pa katagal kayong hindi magkita but when you finally see each other it’s like you haven’t been apart naman.  i have several, and one of those is david. so six months later… nagkita na rin kami ulet! hahaha. he’s shared tons of new kwento with me but he’s still the same old david… makulit, matakaw, makwento.

david bought patrick along. ehem ehem. and since patrick wanted to buy crystals at robinsons galleria, we ended up having dinner there… in a vintage looking restaurant called piadina.

piadina … it looks warm here and there are cushy chairs and lovely vintage prints plus you can see the kitchen so you’d know that your food is safe, and the smells coming from it were good too.

gracious grace … their staff is super nice, i may add. that’s ate grace in the mirror taking our pixxor… she was very friendly to us and served us really nicely, you could keep asking her for parmesan and she would oblige.

this night’s lamon crew … i like the way patrick cozies up to a person instantly. we’ve only been friends for a few hours pero it was like i was talking to an old friend. apparently, david talks to him about me.

on the other hand, we ordered pizza cappo di tutti, which is paper thin pizza ; and pasta con polpette, it’s pasta with tons of spices, ozumm meatballs, and pita bread. para siyang spaghetti, only better! i really enjoyed our piadina dinner, food is always more enjoyable when shared with friends and loved ones, lalo na yung masarap kumain. we must come back soon and try out the rest. hihihi.

i was craving for something sweet so i bought a jar of nutella… which is actually the next best thing after warm hugs and maybe, err, bacon. hahaha! but it certainly puts a smile on my face. it is no doubt one of the best things in life. there’s something comforting about it, it’s like edible sunshine in a jar. pwedeng lamunin mag-isa pero it goes with other nice things too like pancakes and cookies and marshmallows.

spread the love

the melai way of eating it… i couldn’t resist making a heart when i opened it. do you do this with your spreads too? hihihi. at siyempre, after that share it with someone you love.
